RELEASE FROM LIABILITY: By submitting a work of art to be exhibited in the 2025 Spring Fest Art Show, the artist is agreeing to release the Sealy Area Historical Society and all Sealy Area Historical Society members and volunteers from liability for damage to the artist’s work. The show’s organizers will take every precaution to insure that all artwork is protected from damage.

Rules and Registration Form

BOUNDARIES: Artists may paint in the location of their choosing within the boundaries of the Sealy Historical Park at 211 East Main Street, Sealy, TX 77474. See event map.

REFERENCE PHOTOS: Artists may paint from reference photos taken the day of the 2025 Spring Fest Quick Draw Plein Air Competition. Photos may be taken with a cell phone, Ipad or other camera. There will be no provision for printing photos to use as reference material. Artists may print photos from their own portable photo printer. 

SET UP: Artists may choose their site and set up equipment beginning at 9:00 AM on the day of the competition. A registration table will be manned beginning at 9:30 AM where artists must have blank canvases stamped and pick up their title & price label.

START: Artists may begin to create en Plein Air at 10:00 AM. The artists must start with nothing pre-painted or pre-drawn and create the Quick Draw artwork only during the Quick Draw time frame. Mediums accepted are watercolor, oil, pastel, and acrylic, ink, charcoal and pencil.

STOP: Artists must finish their artwork by 2:00 PM. Artists may create up to two paintings.

FRAME: At least one painting must be framed or matted for exhibition and sale. Paintings may be varnished or sealed and attached to a board in lieu of matting and/or framing. The maximum framed/or matted size is 5 square feet.

FEE: Entry fee is $10 per participant. If inclement weather prevents participation in the event, the fee will be refunded.

EXHIBIT AND JUDGING: At 2:00 PM all artists will bring completed artwork, along with their personal easels, to the “Plein Air Exhibit” tent east of the Main Museum in the Sealy Historical Park. See event map. Event staff will assist the artists in setting up their easels and artwork for the Quick Draw Exhibit. Judging will begin at 2:30 PM with prizes awarded at 3:00 PM. All artwork must remain until the event ends at 5:00 PM. All artwork and easels must be picked up between 5:00 and 6:00 PM. The Sealy Area Historical Society’s members and volunteers are not responsible for any equipment or art left after 6:00 PM.

PRIZES: Cash prizes will consist of $100 for 1st place, $75 for 2nd place, and $50 for 3rd place.

SALE: Each Quick Draw artwork submitted for judging must have a title and price, and is required to be available for sale. The Sealy Area Historical Society will take a 20% commission from each work that sells. Credit cards and cash will be accepted. Sales will be handled by the Sealy Area Historical Society.

REGISTRATION: To pre-register, complete this form and mail with payment to Sealy Area Historical Society, P O Box 585, Sealy, TX 77474. To register the day of the event, print this form and bring to the registration table at the Sealy Historical Park at 211 East Main Street, Sealy, TX.
